Is it really worth it to sit through two hours of predictable set-up without any good pay-off to look forward to?

Scrape away all the supposedly on-set drama of Don't Worry Darling and what you're left with is a movie that pretends to be about big, important subjects, but amounts to nothing more than a box of tricks that runs out of steam long before the roundly disappointing finale sets in.

If Olivia Wilde really did want to make a statement about feminism and poisonous online conversations or our hectic 24/7-lifestyle, she should have picked a script that doesn't look and sound like a Stepford Wives reheat from the reject pile.

Stacked with more plot holes than I can possibly recount and hammering home both the overarching themes and the suspense elements with a hilarious bluntness Don't Worry Darling is all style and no substance.

Sure, Olivia Wilde proves she has all the makings of an excellent director and the production design is second to none, but is that worth it to sit through two hours of predictable set-up without a good pay-off to look forward to? Better to check out a classic Twilight Zone episode instead.
