Moonlight is one of the most touching coming-of-age tales I have seen the last couple of years.

Though the film is set in an all too familiar milieu, where young black Americans fight stereotypes that haunt them, Moonlight feels fresh because of its profound intimacy.

This is not the story of some generic ethnic youth. This is the tale of Chiron (of him specifically) and how he struggles to accept his homosexuality during three key moments in his troubled life.

With terrific performances, magical direction and an ending that is as perfect as they come, Moonlight thoroughly deserves all its awards attention ... and then some.
